bigger turbo

Post  paddy on Wed Nov 28, 2007 8:16 am

bigger turbo isnt always better im putting a 2.3 stroker kit in my evo 2.Gonna get a good remapable ecu and run less boost and more ignition.i have done a lot of searching and found some good stuff i have got myself a full rebuild kit with everything top and bottom end to build an bullit proof engine for an exelent price.stroker kits are the way forward

yes stroker kit is the way forward just have to save some pennies up dont believe in debt for cars, it would be really good having peace of mind knowing the engine is virtually bullet proof... anyway welcome to the site hope you enjoy!!

Doesn't a bigger Turbo = more mass = longer spool up time?

ordinarily yes, but to be honest our turbo spools up just as quick if not quicker than the standard one

tdo6

Post  Evo 2 RS on Sat Dec 15, 2007 4:14 am

Hi guys
Td06 20G will make 400-420 hp,however you will need a 2.3 or 2.4 engine to power one of these turbos, as the hot side is larger so inturn needs more gases ,plus car mapped properly. If you dont have the CC's you will have a car that has very little torque which defeats the point of a large turbo. You would be better to go with a Td05 18 or 20G if you have 2ltr plus 272 cams plus mappable or chipped ECU this combo will support 380 to 400 hp and make the car more responsive.

Beware of large turbos unless your building a quarter mile monster drag car.Torque is the name of the game not just hp.You just have to look at a WRC, they have a restricted 300 or so hp turbo but with some inivitive mapping there pulling over 500lbs/ft of torque over quite a large power band.

So to re-cap do your homework on what type of car you can relisticly live with before spending any of your hard earnd.

Hope this helps
